Why MDF is the best door for paint

Painted wood doors show grain through the finish and crack at the joints as the wood moves. One-piece MDF has neither problem: it's flat, grain-free and has no joints, so it gives the smooth, sprayed look of a factory cabinet.

Painting your doors

Even primed doors should get a light scuff before your topcoat. Machined edges and profiles soak up more finish than flat faces, so give them an extra coat. Our guide How to paint MDF cabinet doors covers primers, paints and spraying versus rolling.

Questions

Are they ready to paint?

Choose Raw (straight off the CNC), Sanded (ready for primer) or Primed (sanded and primed, ready for your topcoat).

What are one-piece MDF doors?

Each door is CNC-machined from a single sheet of MDF, with no joints between rails, stiles and panel. That means no seams that crack or show through paint, a dead-flat surface, and crisp profiles every time.
